A tough day at the office today for Deal Town Rangers U12 Colts as they faced off against Hythe. Captained by Fin Green, ‘the Colts’ made a promising start although were soon on the back foot, with Hythe proving to be a talented squad. Going in at half time just one down was more testament to the fine saves from stand-in keeper Ollie Weller that a deserving performance.

The 2nd half played out much the same, with the Colts failing to impose their usual standards, and avoidable errors saw more goals being conceded.

Man of the Match today was Sam Caldwell, who showed his continued development, and being neat and tidy in what he did.

Deal Town Rangers u12 Colts were in cup action this weekend, against familiar opposition in Snowdon & Aylesham. The Colts, captained by Tom Osmond, got off to the best possible start when minutes into the match George Jenner scored with a strong left foot finish after some neat build up play. That set the tone for a strong performance, with the Colts playing some of the best football they have all season. Ironically however, at times we didn’t pose as much goal threat as we usually do.

The worry of an equaliser was on the cards, until Keillan Jefford scored a peach of a right foot finish in the 2nd half. When S&A grabbed one back, things again became a little tense, but goals from Cuthbert Shepherd and Ollie Weller safely saw the Colts in to the next round.

MOM was Ollie Weller, who covered 4 positions today. Making important saves and keeping a clean sheet during his stint in goal, and getting reward for his efforts through his goal.

A fantastic day rounded off with a sponsored walk to raise money for the group, and Michael and Craig from CJ’s roofing presenting the group with their new match shirts, tops and tracksuits.

Deal Town Rangers U12 Colts continued their improving form when they faced off against Thanet Hawks. Led by Ollie Jacques, the Colts started slowly, with clumsy touches and not enough urgency or quality to their play. That said, it was not long until they grew into the game, and a nice move down the left involving Logan Pullen and George Jenner saw Logan dispatch a tidy left foot finish. It was a loss to the Colts when Callum Wicks had to come off due to the impact of a strong 50:50 tackle, but their lead was extended from a long-range free kick from Keillan Jefford.

Facing the challenge of playing in to the wind the 2nd half, the Colts produced a half of intensity, quality and maturity. George grabbing a goal and Cuthbert Shepherd making it 4-0 to the Colts.

A fantastic team effort all round, but the defensive unit of Keillan, Ollie and Marli Lawner kept a talented Hawks team at bay. Stand-in keeper Ollie Weller also delivering a top drawer performance.

MOM is jointly shared by Ollie J and Marli for their fantastic effort in defense.

DTR u12 Colts braved the wind and the rain to face off against Canterbury Youth. They were led by Fin Green who answered a last minute SOS to play. The game itself turned out to be a great advert for youth football despite the conditions. Both teams competitive in their approach and looking to play good football. With not long to go Canterbury scored a wonder goal to make it 4:3 in their favour. Colts heads did not drop however, and today’s man of the match George Jenner scored a wonder goal of his own (much to the joy of the home bench and supporters) to earn the Colts a well deserved equalizer.

Goals today came from: George Jenner (2); Callum Wicks and Cuthbert Shepherd (his first for the team)

Deal Town Rangers u12 Colts faced off with Ashford in their second league game of the season. Captained by last weeks man of the match, Callum Wicks, ‘the Colts’ made a promising start with George Jenner turning in an early corner. Unfortunately they couldn’t build on this, and with a strong wind in their faces, found Ashford having the better of the first half, with Luca Hissey making several important stops, but a mix up in the defence saw Ashford equalise.

Into the second half it again was a spirited performance from the Colts, but with injuries and changes disrupting their flow. The Ashford #9 proved to be a constant menace for the Colts, none more so when he was brought down for a penalty - which was converted.

Man of the match was again Callum.

Deal Town Rangers u12 Colts faced off against Sittingbourne in their seasons opener, captained by Isaac Taylor.

Playing up a level and competitive football was always going to provide challenge, and the colts got off to the worst possible start, starting the match sluggishly and conceding early. To their credit they grew in to the game and although the final scoreline was 3-2 to Sittingbourne, the Colts created enough chances to get more from this game.

The attitude and work rate of the team couldn’t be faulted, with MOM Callum Wicks epitomizing this with a tireless and committed performance. It was nice to also see Cuthbert Shepherd make a promising debut for the team.

Goals came from Callum Wicks and Tom Osmond.
